'79 Tampa Bay vs. '06 Chicago It was a great fall day in Chicago, but the Bears got off to a rough start against the Bucs. After scoring the first TD of the game, Tampa Bay answered the Bears with a 95 yard KO return for TD. Later, they would put up 2 FG's in a row to take a 6-point lead.  But as the 2nd quarter neared, the Bears shook off the shock and started to rally back. In fact, as the Bears picked up on both sides of the ball, they would hold the Bucs from any further scores, and go on to quadruple their score. In fact, it seemed like Tampa Bay wasn't even trying. Bears win 43-12. The biggest boost for the Bears came from their rushing game. Jones had another big day, averaging almost 8 yards per carry for 162 yards total and 3 TDs. Benson also ran for 71 yards. In the air, Grossman threw for almost 300 yards and 2 TD's. At 534 yards total, the Bears more than doubled Tampa Bay's total offense, which just weighed in at 245 yards.  '80 Bills vs. ...

Well I seem to have forgotten to sim this game last so now's as good a time as any to present it. Season 5 games were simulated and but may not be available until Sunday or Monday. I'm likely just going to have to remain 2 weeks behind. '10 Atlanta vs. '01 Green Bay The Falcons travelled to Green Bay looking to keep their undefeated streak going. Green Bay was looking to make 50% on their record. But as the usually explosive Matt Ryan looked to get his air game going, the Pack was able to shut it down. Despite scoring in the 1st quarter, the Falcons struggled to score afterwards. On the other hand, Favre was on fire, throwing 2 TD passes in the 1st quarter and mixing things up with Green for 2 rush TD's in the 2nd. Along with a Safety on behalf of the Packers D, there was no chance of Atlanta winning. Final Score GB 40, ATL 7. For Atlanta, Ryan gained just over 120 yards passing, averaging 7 yards / catch. With the team just barely breaking 100 yards rushing as wel...

Quarter 1 Analysis [GFL]

 We're now 4 weeks into the season, and because of my somewhat hectic personal life, I haven't really stepped back from the games to look at the bigger picture of where teams stand and where things might be going. We're going to look at the by division before taking a broader scope. Current standings are as follows: AFC East Win Loss Tie 1984 Miami Dolphins 3 1 1980 Buffalo 2 2 1998 NY Jets 2 2 2016 New England 2 2 AFC North Win Loss Tie 1981 Cincinatti 3 1 2004 Pittsburgh 2 1 1 2006 Baltimore 2 2 1987 Cleveland 0 4 AFC South Win Loss Tie 2018 Houston 2 2 2005 Jacksonville 2 2 2007 Indianapolis 2 2 1993 Houston 1 3 AFC West Win Loss Tie 2006 SD Chargers 3 1 2019 Kansas City 3 1 2015 Denver 2 1 1 2000 Oakland 2 2 NFC East Win Loss Tie 1983 Washington 2 2 2008 NY Giants 2 2 1980 Philadelphia 1 3 1971 Dallas 1 3 NFC North Win Loss Tie 2006 Chicago 2 2 1998 Minnesota 2 2 2001 Green Bay 1 2 1970 Detroit 0 4 NFC South Win Loss Tie 2010 Atlanta 3 0 1992 New Orleans 3 1 2008 Caroli...

GET BOXSCORES HERE! '15 Denver vs. '98 NY Jets It was the Jets and their fans who would be a mile high at Giants Stadium when Denver arrived. Despite a good offensive performance and some big plays, the Broncos struggled to score all game. The Jets, on the other hand, seemed unstoppable in their 1st half performance. No matter their position, Testaverde made 3 long TD throws. VT had 26 completions for 338 yards; Martin had 31 carries for 123 yards and 2 TD's.    Manning completed just 22 passes for 276 yards, but Hillman put in a great performance on the ground, averaging almost 8 yards / carry and breaking 100 yards. But overall the Broncos just couldn't get setup for many good scoring opportunities. NY Jets win 37-17 .  '06 Baltimore vs. '83 Washington The Ravens and Redskins traded scores all game in a close matchup. Though Baltimore had a slight lead at halftime 14-7, Washington would almost tie things up early in the 3rd quarter, except Moseley would miss t...

GET BOXSCORES HERE! '84 Miami vs. '05 Jacksonville Miami scored early, but Jacksonville took the lead for Q2 and Q3 in a low-scoring effort. With both defenses forcing several 3-and-outs, a 4th quarter TD by Marino gave the Dolphins a 2 point lead many thought would end the game. But a last minute surprise effort by Leftwich put the Jags just over the Dolphins. Jacksonville wins 19-14. Marino threw for over 380 yards, but Leftwich completed 71% of his tosses for 242 yards. It was the Jags running efforts that helped Leftwich get some extra leverage, however, with Taylor and Jones breaking 100 yards together  '18 Houston vs. '04 Pittsburgh Watson found himself struggling to score against a brutal Pittsburgh defense as the Steelers blew away the Texans 38-14 . Houston settled for several FG's, but thte Steelers matched them with TD's. Deuce Staley grabbed 2 TD's as him and Bettis pounded away on Houston's D-line.  Roethlisberger threw 2 TDs and for a whopp...

GET BOX SCORES HERE! '81 Cincinnati vs. '87 Cleveland Ken Anderson showed off his superstar credentials in a win against the Browns, as he tossed or ran his way for all Bengals scores. Not only did he complete 20 passes for over 300 yards, but he had an amazing 56 yard TD run. Kosar performed well for Cleveland, but had to settle for FG's too often, getting his first passing TD in the 4th quarter. Webster Slaughter had 100 yards on the day. Cincinnati 21, Cleveland 13 . '10 Atlanta vs. '77 Dallas The dangerous Atlanta defense held Staubach and Co. to just 10 points as the Falcons embarrassed the Cowboys in Texas, 23-10 . Matt Ryan may have had trouble getting in the end zone, but no problems getting in FG range all day with the help of Michael Turner. Turner, who had 111 yards on 20 carries, grabbed the only offensive TD for Atlanta. Weems on special teams picked up the other on KO return. Staubach, who had an abysmal performance with 1 TD, 3 picks and just 87 yards...
