Week 12 - Thursday
'12 Texans vs. '68 Colts
After last week's loss, the 5-5 Colts were looking to get back in the fight against the 6-4 Texans. With so many teams in the league at 6-4 and 5-5, every win at this point still counts towards playoff hopes. The Colts would be travelling to Houston for the showdown, and the 67,000 fans in the stadiums definitely got a showdown.
Early in the game, Houston grabbed the first score after an impressive 46 yard dash from K. Martin.
From there, Baltimore's defense was able to hold Houston and give the Colts a chance at the ball. And while it took them some time to move, just as they hit the red zone, Hill darted 20 yards to tie the game up.
In the 2nd quarter, both teams would continue battling for position, but only Houston would come on top, grabbing 2 FG's along the way to head into half-time 13-7.
The Colts would get the ball in the 2nd half, and after a great kick return, had no problems breaking down the Texans, as Matte picked up a 4 yard TD to go up 14-13. The Colts would continue to embarrass Houston on their following drive, as Morrall found Orr in the flat, who ran the rest of the 68 yards to put the Colts up 21-13.
As the 3rd quarter wound down, it was clear Schaub had not given up, and with the help of league leader Arian Foster, would pick up another TD to inch within 1 point of Baltimore.
The Colts wouldn't have to wait long to get revenge. After some short plays and runs that went nowhere, Morrall somehow hit Mackey on the deep throw, who sprinted the rest of the way for a 71 yard score, making 1/2 of his 282 yards on the day accounted for in just 2 throws.
With 12 minutes left in the game, and the score 28-20, Houston clearly had the chance to stay in it, and with Foster still destroying Baltimore's D-line, Schaub was able to hit a short pass to score, making the game 28-27, Baltimore.
Houston would continue the rush attack, after their D held off Baltimore, and with under a minute left in the game, Tate would power through for another Houston TD, giving the Texans the edge 34-28.
Baltimore simply didn't have enough time from there to get in the end zone, and the Texans grab the W by the final score of 34-28.
Foster had over 130 yards on the day rushing, but 3 of his teammates also totaled 117 yards on the day, showing how Baltimore's failure to stop the run ended up costing them this critical game. Schaub was also 76.7% on the day, but with 3 picks, things could have been worse for Baltimore.
Morral, despite 282 yards on 9 throws and 2 TD's, also had 4 picks, and those 9 throws only represented 30% of his attempts.
