Week 6 - Thursday

New England vs. New York Giants

Welcome to another exciting week of LFL action. In tonight's game, the '86 Giants travel to take on the Patriots. The Patriots come off a disappointing loss last week, but they're facing a Giants team that is just struggling to win games at all.

The Patriots scored on the opening kickoff as Hobbs ran 84 yards for the score. With such an easy lead, the Patriots can be tough to stop. But the New York defense rose to the occasion early on. From there, Simms tried to get some forward progress, but Brady was the only one finding holes to exploit.

First, Brady nailed a 40 yard pass to Randy Moss, getting in range for an easy FG to put the Patriots up 10-0, and momentum from there was much the same.

Simms put together a good drive to setup for an Allegre FG, and the Giants held off the Patriots from  there to head to halftime 13-3.

The Giants would get the ball in the 3rd quarter, and after a few empty drives, got their first TD after a pass interference call gave them great field position. From there, Simms found Gaffney for a TD throw to inch closer to the Patriots 13-10.

Brady retaliated with a 35 yard pass to Maroney that was brought down at the 1, setting up an easy TD to put the Giants further behind. And that was all the momentum he needed. The Patriots would score again on a 6 yard run by Sammy Morris.

The Giants squeezed in a 30 yard TD to Morris,, but still left the game empty. New England wins 34-17.

A look at the numbers shows both teams put up good offense, with the Giants rushing 89 yards and Simms throwing for over 300. New England ran for 100 and brady threw for over 250. As we've all learned, though, it's the Patriot's efficiency with scoring off their yards that makes them such a dangerous team.
