Week 6 - Monday Night

'91 Detroit vs. '62 Green Bay

The '91 Lions traveled to Lambeau Field looking for a victory against their division leaders, the '62 Packers, who remain undefeated at home so far this year.

The weather in Green Bay was great, and the Packers opened the game with the 1st possession. Starr had no problem driving off the Lions, spending over 7 minutes wearing them down to eventually pickup the 1st TD on a short pass to Carpenter. Starr would later fire another throw to McGree for 7 more points after Taylor came through with a 21 yard run. Taylor averaged 5 yards a carry with 114 yards on the day.

Detroit, on the other hand, had as much trouble moving the ball as they did stopping the Packers. While Barry Sanders easily broke 100 yards, Kramer and Peete both only completed 1/3 of their throws for a total 75 yards. Lombardi's secondary had no problem breaking up passes, picking off the Lions 3 times.

Detroit would come close to scoring a few times, but the Packers D stepped up each time. The Lions simply struggled to get a decent drive together until 4th quarter. At that point, Barry Sanders came up big with 2 runs of 30 and 20 yards on the same drive, setting up Kramer for an easy TD pass to Green. But it would only be enough to prevent Detroit from a complete shutout as the Packers win, 23-7.
