Week 1 - Monday Double Header

'12 Texans vs. '08 New Orleans

The 2012 Houston Texans showed up to New Orleans to give Drew Brees a challenge, and they succeeded big time. Schaub came up short on some bigger pass attempts, but was able to mix some shorter plays with a ground attack from Arian Foster, who came up big. Foster, who only rushed for 112 yards, grabbed every Houston TD, including a 34-yarder in the 2nd quarter.

Brees evaded the Houston defense okay, but just had trouble finding receivers to come up with the big plays needed.

Neither QB had a great game, but the Texans D held strong, giving them the win over the Saints 35-10.

'97 Broncos vs. '74 Raiders

The '97 Broncos took on the '74 Raiders in what appeared to be a defensive standout for several quarters. Both teams found some wiggle room with the ball, balancing the rush and pass efforts. But both teams ended up punting until late in the 2nd quarter, when Elway's Broncos started loosening up the Raiders, heading to the half 10-0.

The 2nd half continued to show well matched these teams were, with both teams continuing to come up short until the 4th quarter. Ultimately, Stabler was picked off 5 times, and the Raiders walked away losers, 20-6.

Conclusion

And that wraps up the first week of LFL football.

Emmitt Smith is the leading rusher with 191 yards, but the Dolphins lead total rushing at 291 yards. Csonka has also powered through his defenders with an outstanding average of 7.1 yards / carry.

On the receiving side, Keyshawn's 184 yards across 12 catches puts him in 1st.

Despite some great QB performances by Jim McMahon and Boomer Esiason, earning 124.6 ratings, Carson Palmer's rating of 143.4 puts him way ahead of the pack. Carson completed 71.4% of passes for 213 yards and 3 TDs. Fouts, however, aside from leading passing yardage at 372, also has an outstanding completion % of 71.1, putting the Chargers in the #1 spot for passing offense and total offense (468 yards). The Bears lead 2nd with 449 yards total

Arian Foster's 5 TD's clearly put him on top of the scorers list, but NYG's Allegre has 12 points to his name, edging him over Gostkowski in the leaderboard for kickers.

On the defensive side, Philadelphia leads in almost every category, having only allowed 138 yards (24 rush / 114 pass). Carolina has the tightest pass defense, however, only allowing 59 yards from 4 catches (25% completion). Lastly, Chicago and Denver both tie for turnover ratio, each team having a margin of 6 / game.
